The Thar Desert is a very dry desert that only receives 120-240mm of rainfall each year. Because of this, there is minimal water for plants and animals. However, the population of the Thar desert grows each year. How do we sustain food and water in the Thar Desert for the future generations of the Thari people? Well, it is important for the Thari People to only use the water that is necessary for them. Unfortunately, in the Thar desert, the people cannot use more water than they need or they will run out. It is something we all take for granted, being able to use as much water as we want. So, one of they ways to sustain water for the Thari people is to minimize use of unnecessary water. Also, for food sustainability for the Thari people, they do subsistence farming. This means that they use all they food and crops they make for themselves and their family first. Only if they have extra food, they will sell it. This helps to make sure they all get the food they need before focusing on money and to make sure they don't waste any of the food. Furthermore, the government has done things to make sustaining food for future generation easier. The Government has allowed irrigation for a large amount of the land of the Thar desert. This was done to give the water that the desert wasn't getting, to specific areas, making it easier to farm and grow crops. Therefore, they have helped with sustainability of the food in the desert.
